Not all Pest Control Companies are Created Equal
In another article, we talked about companies that hire companies that use Review Bots and Review Inconsistencies. These companies would have you think they are superior in every way including customer service and reviews! In this article, we will take a look at multiple consumer review platforms such as Google, Yelp, and Facebook. But be careful because some of these sites can be misleading, some are outright deceptive, and others are false fronts created by other pest control companies to capture their competitor’s business!
Better Business Bureau
Despite its official-sounding name, the Better Business Bureau is a private, nonprofit organization and is not affiliated with any governmental agency. In effect, it was the first Yelp, Angie’s List, or other Review Directory dedicated to protecting the consumer, that’s you, but where producers or companies pay hundreds of dollars in annual dues to be a member. Remember, even the Better Bussiness Bureau can get reviewed by consumers. Here are some numbers.
We looked at 13 Better Business Bureau’s Google listings across Texas for a total of 1200 reviews and then we averaged their review totals. For these 13 locations, the Better Business Bureau had an overall average of 3.2 Stars.
Google vs. Yelp!
While not perfect, Google does have a few pros regarding consumer reviews as opposed to some of the cons of Yelp!. Once the review is posted on Google it stays there for good unless the person who posted it modifies it or takes it down. Yelp! is a good source for legitimate reviews but there is one big detractor for companies. This is the section titled “reviews that are not currently recommended“. CLICK HERE to see BUGCO® Pest Control’s Not Recommended reviews on Yelp. This section is constantly fluctuating and these reviews don’t contribute to the business’s Yelp rating or review count. Yelp’s algorithm can hide them indefinitely or reinstate them after long periods. Once we had nearly 250 reviews disappear overnight and they were reinstated a few weeks later with no explanation.
Make sure to check around a few different sites for a reputable company. Also, there are other platforms you can check for reviews like Facebook. Just go to the companies page and find the tab titled reviews. Cross-referencing review sites will give you a good idea if a company is reputable or not.
You can always contact BUGCO® Pest Control directly at info@bugco.org or you can call at one of the numbers listed above if you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment!
